TOGETHER WE OPENED THE DOOR OF HER LIGHTHOUSE!
Karen has 22 years of ministry experience working with at-risk pregnant women in her progressive roles as volunteer, Client Services Director, Center Director and Executive Director of LifeCare Network / Choices Women’s Centers in Brandon and SouthShore area of Florida. Karen obtained a degree in Counseling & Human Services from Hillsborough Community College and experienced several internships where she facilitated therapeutic groups, providing individual counseling sessions, conducting psychosocial assessments, and participated in team treatment planning/case management. Karen served as a Victim Outreach volunteer at the US Institute Against Human Trafficking from 2019-2020. In this role, services included reaching sexually exploited victims with the message of hope, healing and restoration, as well as providing assistance and referrals for housing, medical care, counseling, education and job training.
Karen passionately shares,"The Lord first planted the dream of opening a maternity home in my heart after reading one of the most inspirational books I had ever read, “The Dream Giver” in 2006. Through the years, I experienced significant training and preparation along with the fruit and joy of ministry victories as I was humbled and honored to serve at LifeCare Network/Choices Women’s Centers. I also experienced regrets, disappointments and defeat, and as a result, I let go of this dream; I surrendered it back to the Lord, and I can truly say it was well with my soul. I thought the dream was dead, but have discovered it was only delayed as the Lord had work to do in my heart and circumstances. In January of 2019, the Lord broke my heart as I realized the devastating need to provide transformational housing for pregnant survivors of sexual exploitation to make it possible for their stories to be rewritten and change the course of history for future generations. The Lord resurrected my dream and breathed His next ministry assignment of “HER LightHouse" into my heart as He reminded me we are never too old and it is never too late for His promises to be fulfilled, all for His greater glory! I have also been inspired with the powerful words of “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle as our battle cry and victory song. God is raising up and sending out His Army to rescue, restore and rewrite stories of new life and freedom as together we shine the light and hope of the gospel. (Isaiah 61:1-3)
Natalie has been working with women and youth in crisis since 1998 in a variety of roles, including Director of Client Services and Operations at A Woman’s Place Pregnancy Center. Her passion for “healing the broken hearted and setting the captives free” compelled her to seek out and become trained in awareness of human trafficking, serve on local task forces, connect with organizations that provide resources for victims, and to educate her team to be victim advocates. Her compassion and uncompromising belief that every individual has dignity has carried her from advocating to joining the team with the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking (USIAHT) in the role of Director of National Outreach Programs. Natalie’s desire is to see the church and community unite together to set a standard by taking the lead as the solution to end human trafficking.

Susan has been working as a public servant for 20 years. First as a preschool teacher, and later as an instructional assistant for the public school system. She then felt called to the medical field where she worked as an EMT answering 911 calls. She also worked as a Patient Care Tech at a local emergency room. With her husband serving the public as a police officer, Susan felt it was better for her family to take more of an office role in the EMS industry and currently works as an administrative assistant for a nationwide ambulance company. Susan and her husband, Brian, have four children and a goldendoodle named Raven. Susan has been working with Raven to get her certified as a therapy dog, so that together, they can serve the community and bring hope and love to others. A dream of Susan’s has always been to help women who have been victims of sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Susan is a “thriver” after a childhood of sexual abuse, and as a survivor of emotional and physical abuse she also suffered as a young woman. She believes she can help others heal and thrive in life regardless of their circumstance. Every woman deserves the life God has intended for them, and she knows that God will use her life experience to help others
find their way out of the darkness.
